Zenidaiko
Presently, Zenidaiko is preformed by dancers from the Matsubara Region of Himeshima. Like Aya and Kitsune the time which Zenidaiko began is unknown; however, it is assumed to have commenced sometime before the Meiji period.
Zenidaiko has many things in common with Aya. Men and women also form a pair and the men are scantily clothed. The difference is that, while Aya utilizes bamboo sticks, Zenidaiko as the name implies uses a taiko drum. The skin of the fugu (blowfish) is attached to one side of the drum body, on the inside attached by a wire is an old coin called the sen. When the taiko is shaken the old coins make a unique sound. It may even be said to be romantic or even exotic.
***This dance has become a children's dance as of 2002.
